I would appreciate comments regarding the relative value of the above online chess sites. Is one "better" than the other?

Shredder and Chess Puzzles
I have the Burt Hochberg "Award Winning Chess Problems" It gives exclusively white to mate in two problems. Since Imreallylousy, I find most of them difficult. I've set them up in Shredder but it seems not to be able to handle them. Am I asking too much of Shredder??

Re: Timing out
I understand all that has been said on this subject. Nonetheless, it is more than a bit irritating when opponents refuse to move or resign when in a lost position. Ramesis, who made his last move in an obviously lost position on November 26th, is a prime example. He continues to play in other games ...

Re: Forfeits
Yes. Those who timeout in lost positions are irritating. I suspect they do it to avoid losing points. I have a current opponent with a lost position who blatantly told me he didn't want to move because "he was just 33 points short of 2500"! He has now surpassed 2500 but still does not move. I think ...

Re: Those who purposely time out....when losing.
Thanks, Greg. My understanding is now complete concerning the rules used on this site vis a vis the timeout issue. But, if a player times out in less than ten moves and thereby loses the game and rating points, why shouldn't his opponent gain points? In a regular tournament, isn't this the case? Is ...

Re: Those who purposely time out....when losing.
Your opinion is a nightmare. :):) When I posed this subject, I was unaware that those who time out after making more than 10 moves would suffer a loss in rating and the other player would gain points. Had I known that, I would have simply waited for it to happen. For my lack of understanding, I apol...

Re: Those who purposely time out....when losing.
I guess I have opened a bit of a hornet''s nest here. I have reviewed those games in which Eisdrache has timed out, and they all appear to be losing positions. If he lets the time run out in our game, as is his right, I think he should forfeit the game. It is not fair to allow anyone to time out wit...

Re: Those who purposely time out....when losing.
Eisdrache's last move in that game was on 11/6. He has made many, many moves since then in other games. I suspect he does not want to lose points against a much lower rated player. Ergo, he's sitting back and waiting to time out. If he has a legitimate reason for not moving, I shall be the first to ...

If one is called away for whatever reason, he/she should notify their opponents. Common courtesy.
Eisdrache has been making other moves on a regular basis....the last on 11/25.

I suppose there is little to be done with those who purposely time out when their position is hopeless. I recently played four games with Eisdrache, a far superior player. I lost the first three but I have a forced winning position in the fourth. Silence from Eisdrache. He seems to have a penchant f...

For me, yes. The book is about Fischer's persona away from the board. Something I knew little about apart from what was reported in the press which, of course, was mostly derogatory. Brady shows us a man who was certainly very intelligent yet still an inexplicable mixture of insanity and human kindn...

The End Game -- Frank Brady
The End Game is a remarkably well written book on the personal life of Bobby Fischer. Frank Brady knew Fischer for most of the latter's life, and he knew most of those individuals who at one time or another were close to him. Fischer, some say, was the greatest chess play who ever played the game; t...
