I'm using Firefox on Debian GNU/Linux, maybe that has something to do with it?

I'm sending you some snapshots of how it looks from here.

Tip for Firefox users. (And Greg.)

If you use Firefox, try the extension URIid . Let's say the ladder tables to the right on the Net-Chess home page isn't wide enough for you. (Hint, Greg... ;-)) Let's fix it: Find the file userContent.css (in the chrome folder) and add this to the bottom of the file: /* The URIid extension adds an i...

You seem to have completely misunderstood this debate, the question asked in this thread is conserning why people don't resign in lost positions. Sorry, I believe I have misunderstood nothing. I comment on your spurious arguments, a valid thing to do in any thread. Maybe you misunderstood, as you k...

Re: If you want to become good, don't give up too early.

I disagree with most of what cohonas said. Almost all the really good players I've met has had this in common; They hate to lose. They will fight as long as they have a plan, unless they have to consider conserving their energy for the next game. As for myself, I have saved countless games after fi...

Interesting question...

In one my friendly OTB game was a situation: The position repeated three times, but two white rooks changed their places (one which was on a6 then was on d6, but one that was on d6 then was on a6). If, in a tournament, such a situation appears, is it a draw or no? P.S. Sorry for bad English.:) :oop...

Re: What exactly is a 3 move repetition?

I though when you move on two squares for a few times and the opponent also moves on 2 squares for a few times it would be draw. But this game apparently shows that draw can be made by moving things over 2 or more different squares. Well? You really should do your own homework you know... From http...

I suppose your opponent, threefingers, could do the honorable thing, and resign.

2 knights + king against king is inpossible, but 2 knights + king againdt king + pawn is in theory possible. See Ye Wieland No, Greg is right. Two knights can mate if the lone king plays stupid. You're right about the pawn, though. See Troitzky_Line.pdf and SecondTroitzkyLine.pdf at http://markalow...

Re: King & Bishop vs King

This game can only end in a draw. Mate is impossible. http://www.net-chess.com/viewgame.cgi?p1=g1104604077&r=515 I vaguely recall a rule about the game being drawn after 50 moves without a piece being taken. Does anyone know this rule? My opponent won't accept my offers for a draw? According to FID...

Here's what it probably should be:

This will be my last post on this site. My decision to leave the site was based on Greg's referral to a psychic hotline. Maybe he should have pointed you to psychology instead. With your prickliness, the Internet is probably not the place for you... I was simply stating a fact. And you think ...

You do know you're answering the creator/programmer of net-chess.com? The same guy you've donated $30 to?

Seems to me he's quite grown up... ( http://www.gregmiller.net/ )

Sorry, the FIDE Law 9.6 doesn’t say that the game can be forced to be drawn if one of the players is not able to reach a checkmate by any possible series of legal moves. It says that if the checkmate cannot be done in any possible ways, then it will be drawn. Now the situation is that white player ...

Re: draws

It would be nice if the system would report the offer of a draw is an invalid move if it is still the offering player's move after the draw is offered. A couple of times I've had opponents offer draws when it was still their move. In that situation I couldn't decline the offer, because declining re...
