withdraw from tournament 2008

Post by slowblunder » Sat May 17, 2008 9:18 am

Greg,

I finished round 1 with a tie on first place, but unfortunately I won´t take part in the second round. So please withdraw me from the tournament when you set up the next round (in order not to ruin my rating). Thanks a lot!

Try and make your rating mean something by keeping the average ratings of your opponents within 100 points of your rating or over your rating. (o:

I just looked at the 2008 tournament table and saw my name marked like another player who withdrew as well. So things are done for me, thank you very much.

jsnyder, I agree that ratings should be meaningful. And that was exactly the reason for my request. If I lose all my games in the next round within the first move, my rating would drop to a less meaningful value. That wouldn´t be fair to future opponents playing a 2300 who really is a 2400.
As long as I only play the yearly tournaments, I cannot follow your advice because Greg sets up all the groups randomly (he wrote his reasons for that and I can understand them).
