'Semi-Open' Tournaments?

Post by cliff » Mon May 11, 2009 10:42 pm

Just wondering what would happen if you wanted to post a tournament, let's say with 6 players, and wanted to invite one or two particular players, and leave the other slots open for anyone else who wanted to join.

What would happen if you entered "Number of Players" = 6, and then justentered "Challange to" - playerx, playery, and posted it?

(I hope I explained that question clearly enough. It seems okay...)

Would that work?

In theory, It shouldn't work because only those invited are allowed to click. But Greg may have set it differently. We'll see.

Hmmm...haven't tried it yet, actually. I'm waiting for Greg to appear with an answer, but I wonder if this would work:

"Number of Players" = 6

"Challange to" - playerx, playery, *, *, *

And post it. Hmmm....

You can't have a semi-open tournament. If you post the match that way, then it'll never start. The best way to do that is to just coordinate with the players you want to join ahead of time and make sure they have time to join it before the match starts.

Kinda figured that, actually.

That's what I've been doing, but it was worth asking anyway.

Thanks Greg.
