I hate the typical vinyl bags; they even smell bad. I'd like something that indicates that I care about chess and care about details. Anyone know of any vendors for that, or should I just make one (or get one made) myself?

I wonder if you might find a soft or hard-shell case for some sort of musical instrument - a small percussion instrument, a set of Orff bells, something like that. Most attaché or laptop cases would be rectangular, and one side too short. There might also be something like a salesman's supply case or something, you might look around for that. I'm most familiar with music cases, but there are lots of companies on the 'net that make specialist cases of one sort or another that could od one to order. I would cost more than finding something on the shelf, though.

I'm trying to think what else is the right approximate size and shape - why not try a large art-supply or stationery place for a leather portfolio?
Or you could get a leatherworker or even a tailor to make you a zippered bag fairly cheap?
