The e-mail system isn't set up yet. It's trying to e-mail the user to let it know it's their move, so you'll continue getting errors like that until that piece is set up. Your move should get recorded normally though.

ctessman, the donation situation is pretty bad. Been running the site for about 18 years, at first it was $100/mo, then for the past 10 or so years it was $70/mo, and I've received less than $3000 in donations over the life of the site (and at least half of that is from one person). Good news is the latest upgrade is $20/mo even though it's a faster server. So, even though I've given up all hope of breaking even, any help is appreciated.

I don't think memberships are the way to go. If it was a problem for me to afford running the site, it would have died long ago. I'm happy to continue running it even if I don't receive another donation.

Net-Chess is still the most reliable correspondence chess site on the web. And the best thing is: No frills! Thanks for that Greg! So if you only could enable the "View PGN Move List" feature again so that we can start moving again without entering the complete position manually.

If I can't get the top player of each of my sites to play each other at least I can try to play them myself. I have issued an open challenge to rating range 2700-9999. I hope the top rated active player sees and accepts my challenge. If not then I will settle for thrashing a mere 2700 player.

I have two questions for the group:
1. Is changing a move after the server crash ethical?
2. When I try accessing this site on my iPhone I get a message, "Website Not Secure." I don't see that when I log on with my laptop. Any insights about this?

It'd certainly be best for everyone to make the same moves, but you have to realize that not everyone is going to remember what move they made. If you've got a game where you think the outcome changed, I can delete it from your record when it's done. The "not secure" message just means it isn't using HTTPS, nothing is wrong and not a lot of browsers give that warning.

I received a notice yesterday that my game #g1105301046 had timed out on me after my opponent played move 20, white. Our game is actually on move 22, black. Apparently, there is a disconnect with the notification system.

bouffant: the website also stores your password in plain text and will email it to you that way, so don't use your paypal password or similar here.
Anyway, I can't post on the regular forum -- tried to, got a "your message contains too few characters" error on Waterfox (a Firefox clone) and it blanked the message, while on internet explorer the reply page won't even load, claiming PHP errors.

I also just discovered that my not getting emails was NOT a result of the crash, but a result of gmail filing them away as spam. I have told gmail they were not spam and will be patrolling that folder more from now on.
